    Transportation:

The Poznań city airport provides direct daily flights to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover and Copenhagen. There are trains to and from Berlin and Warsaw several times a day (Intercity, etc.). Moscow-Berlin trains stop in Poznań.

    Poznań:

Poznań, the fourth largest city in Poland, is situated on the Warta river, 300 kilometers from Warsaw (midway between Warsaw and Berlin). With 600 000 inhabitants, it constitutes an important scientific, cultural, commercial and industrial center. Several higher learning institutions, as well as science and research institutes are located here. The city has its opera house and a number of theaters. For several decades now, it has hosted the International Trade Fair.
Poznan's history goes back to the middle of the 10'th century. In 966, the ruler of Polish Lands, Mieszko I, was baptized here. Poland's first cathedral was raised in Poznań and is the site of Mieszko's tomb, as well as the tomb of his son, Bolesław Chrobry, the first crowned Polish king. The city's further dynamic development took place in the 13'th and 14'th centuries. The majority of the city's historical monuments from this and later period are located in the Old Town. Gniezno, Poland's first capital (later moved to Cracow) lies 50 kilometers from Poznań. Poznań's location, on the Berlin-Warsaw-Moscow route, makes for convenient international and domestic air and train connections.
